Co-Contributing Editor Announcement
The OER & Beyond Blog welcomes two co-contributing editors for 2024!
Welcome Elle Dimopoulos (She/Her/They)!
Elle’s passion for the capacity of technology to open doors that were previously closed to disproportionately impacted populations reaches back to hacking together their own screen-reader for the Lynx browser. Fast forwarding to today, they coordinate open access and accessibility efforts across their community’s college campus. Their current work aligns her accessibility and disability justice experience towards larger systems problems as well as serving the information needs of underrepresented communities. Feel free to reach out to Elle via their socials if you want to chat about the accessibility of open educational resources, making AI training models and weights more transparent, hiking and rock-climbing or playing and creating board games.
Welcome Adronisha Frazier (She/Her/Hers)!
Adronisha’s passion for open access and open educational resources (OERs) is rooted in her teaching experiences at community college institutions. Collaborating with librarians and administrators at her institution and LOUIS: The Louisiana Library Network administrators have positioned her to learn more about open education. These relationships provided numerous opportunities to support access and savings for students. As the Natural Sciences Department Chair at her community college institution, she prioritized working with faculty to select and adapt OERs in as many courses as possible. All biology courses currently use OERs. Adronisha and her coworkers worked to create these resources with the support of funding opportunities from the Louisiana Board of Regents, LOUIS: The Library Network.
Feel free to reach out if you have additional questions about open access and OERs. She is also open to discussing biology education research and learning analytics in course design.
